Our Deluxe Kickboard™ was designed with the student in mind. It is long for straight arm holding, it is heavy for stability, and it has a density that allows the child to kick with their chin down in the water. All of these promote good swim positioning and make the transition to swimming without the board much simpler.
Instructions are printed on the Kickboard™! We teach over 1,000 beginners using this board as the key element in our teaching progression. This board is made of the highest quality EVA PLUS material that will feel substantial in the swimmer’s hands and gives many years of service.
Our Deluxe Kickboard™ has instructions printed on it on the steps for using it to teach new swimmers. Beginners start off holding the board towards the top, with arms straight and chin in the water. As they progress, they move to holding it on the “Thumbs”, printed at the bottom of the board. When held this way, while keeping arms straight, they can practice swimming with their face down in the water and lifting their head every 5 seconds for a breath, then putting their face back down and continuing to kick. This prepares them using good body position, breathing, and kicking – That’s almost swimming!
Watch this demonstration of how we use the Kickboards:
Once a new swimmer has mastered the use of this Kickboard™, they will be ready for a smaller board such as the Speedboard™ or the Peekboard™. Both of those boards get them even closer to swimming independently.
We think you will agree that the Deluxe Kickboard™ design is perfect for teaching beginners of all ages!
